Ring Me When a Message Arrives
When you select this option, you will hear a telephone ringing sound
whenever a new message arrives. The telephone ringing sound will not stop until you click
the checkbox to deactivate the sound. Use this option when you want to be away
from your computer, and still hear the sound of new messages arriving.
Notify Me When a Message Arrives
When you select this option, you will hear a short chime sound whenever a new message arrives.
Use this option when you are at your computer, and when you prefer a soft sound
to announce the arrival of new messages.
Show Message Time
When you select this option, the date and time of arrival of each message is shown
in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) , also
known as Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) .
To show the date and time of arrival of each message in your local time, select the plus/minus
offset from UTC of your local timezone, in hours and minutes, using these three selectors.
For example, all timezones in the U.S. and Canada are offset minus UTC.
How to Use Sooeet Messenger
Below is everything you need to know about using Sooeet Messenger.
Sooeet Messenger is available only to users who have a Sooeet account.
Opening a Sooeet account is free and easy for anyone with a valid email address.
The Buddy List
The Buddy List is an address book, where you can store the names, phone numbers, email addresses, and
Sooeet usernames of your messaging buddies.
Open and close your Buddy List by clicking the Buddy List button.
How the Buddy List is Stored
Your Buddy List is stored on our servers, so your Buddy List is always available
automatically on any device that you use to access Sooeet Messenger.
For example, the Buddy List that you create on your home computer is also available
automatically on your work computer, and on your personal tablet.
Adding a Contact to the Buddy List
When you send a message to a contact who is not already in the Buddy List, the contact information is
added automatically to the Buddy List.
You do not need to enter the information for a contact more than once, because the information is
stored in the Buddy List the first time you send a message to that contact.
Adding a Group to the Buddy List
After you have one or more contacts in your Buddy List, you can create a Buddy Group.
A Buddy Group is a list of several contacts from your Buddy List.
You can send a message and/or pictures to all the members of a Group at the same time. This is great
for quickly staying in touch with groups of people, such as your family, friends, and co-workers.
To create a new Group, click the Make a Group button. Then select each member of the Group by clicking
on each member. When you select a member, a green light shows the member is selected. To deselect a
member, click on that member again.
When you are done selecting Group members, enter a name for your new Group, and then click the Save Your Group button.
To stop group-making without creating a new group, click the Done button.
Privacy and Decency with Group Messaging
When you send a group message, all members of the group will see the address information (Sooeet member name,
mobile number, or email address), of every other group member.
For this reason, before you send a group message, consider whether your group members would approve of having
the entire group membership see their address information.
Additionally, when you send a group message, all members of the group will see the contact names (nicknames),
that you gave to each group member.
For this reason, you should select contact names (nicknames), that will not offend your group members.
Selecting from the Buddy List
Select an individual contact or a Group from the Buddy List by clicking the contact or Group. The contact information for
the Buddy you selected is copied automatically to the address boxes.
You can also select a contact from the Buddy List, by clicking the address header of any message in the Dialogue box.
This way of selecting contacts lets you communicate quickly with multiple contacts, because
you never have to open, close, or click the Buddy List.
Deleting from the Buddy List
To delete any contact from the Buddy List, open the Buddy List and click the Edit button,
then click the X button next
to the contact you want to delete.
To stop editing the Buddy List, click the Done button.
Organizing the Buddy List
To organize the Buddy List, open the Buddy List and click the Edit button. Now two new buttons
become available, the Move Up and the Move Down buttons. To move any contact up
or down in the list, first click the contact you want to move, and then click either of the Move buttons.
To stop editing the Buddy List, click the Done button.
Buddy List Privacy
To prevent other people using your Buddy List without your permission, be sure to
logout of your Sooeet account after you
finish using the application.
