Speed and Time-Units Menus
Speed Menu
In this menu, choose the download speed (also known as bit rate), of the network that will transfer the data.
This converter provides download speeds for different network technologies, in the following units:
Name
Description
Bit Rate
Kbps
kilobits per second
103 bits per second
Mbps
megabits per second
106 bits per second
Gbps
gigabits per second
109 bits per second
Tbps
terabits per second
1012 bits per second
Pbps
petabits per second
1015 bits per second
Every byte contains 8-bits. To calculate byte-rate from bit rate, divide bit rate by 8.
These are some examples of the choices available.

In this menu, choose the download time units you want for the result, for example one of these.
secondminutehourTIP:
Drag your mouse pointer in the "speed" menu or the "time-units" menu to change units.
Release the mouse button to perform a new conversion.
TIP:
Select units in the "speed" or menu or in the "time-units" menu.
Press the Up and Down arrow keys on the keyboard to change units and do a new conversion.
The Result – Two Items
The first item is the number of bytes you entered in the input field, shown here again as a number,
with the "download speed" units that are selected in the "download speed" menu.
The second item is the time required to download the number of bytes you entered in the input field,
in the time units selected in the "time units" menu.
Calculator Memory
You can save the result of your conversion in the Calculator Memory,
then use your saved results later as input for other converters and calculators
anywhere on the website.
See the Calculator Memory for more details.
TIP:Precision of the converter is 12 significant digits, from left to right. Digits after the 12 left-most digits, are not significant.
Numeric Range of the converter is:

The Control Buttons
The download time calculator has three control buttons.
Decimal and Scientific buttons let you choose the output format, as one of these two:
Decimal:-9999.1Scientific Notation:-9.9991e3Decimal Button
In this mode the converter will output in Decimal format whenever possible.
However, the converter will automatically output in Scientific Notation
when the results cannot be shown properly in Decimal format.
