The 2014 Cayman S accelerates 0-60 mph in 4.7 seconds with the 6-speed manual, or with the 7-speed PDK in 4.6 seconds (4.4 seconds with the Sport Chrono package). Top speed is 175 mph with the 6-speed manual, or 174 mph with PDK. EPA fuel economy is 28 mpg on the highway with the 6-speed manual, or with the PDK 30 mpg.

The 3.4 liter engine in the Cayman S uses an airflow management system that boosts torque at low rpm while increasing top end power and providing a uniform torque curve. The engine also features variable valve timing and lift (VarioCam Plus) on the intake camshaft for optimal performance throughout the operating range.
