The R8 V10 Plus comes with carbon-ceramic brake rotors, while the R8 V10 is equipped with steel brake rotors. Additionally, the R8 V10 and R8 V10 Plus reduce weight with the all-aluminum Audi Space Frame (ASF), and in the R8 V10 Plus more extensive use of carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP).

This weight savings is evident in the 3605 lbs (1635 kg) curb weight of R8 V10 Plus, versus the standard R8 V10, which tips the scale at 3737 lbs (1695 kg), both models being equipped with the standard transmission for a fair comparison.
